Etiquette of Sending Flowers
There are a lot of reasons people send
flowers but there are also a lot of
meanings behind them.
When sending flowers, you want to be
sure that they are received in the
spirit you intended so knowing the
proper etiquette for sending flowers
will assure that you are expressing the
desired sentiments.
Flower Sending No No's
Contrary to what you see in romantic
comedies, women do not enjoy receiving
flowers sent anonymously so one thing
that is never acceptable is to send your
gift without a note. It is also
appropriate to provide your address, as
well as your name so that the recipient
can send you a thank you note if they so
desire, especially when the flowers are
for a funeral or for a wedding or
sympathy gift, or even for the birth of
a baby. Another thing to consider is the
gift card message. There is a certain
etiquette to follow when sending a
business or professional flower
arrangement and that is to keep any
sensitive or personal information off of
the gift card message as this is not
appropriate. If any personal messages
want to be sent, it should be sent
separately, via mail or letter, not on
the gift card itself. Sometimes, even
for a birthday at the workplace, many
people are very sensitive about this and
may not want other people to even know

color. Typically, red flowers such as
roses are sent to express love and
romance for occasions such as
Valentine's day and even mother's day.
Yellow flowers are great to send get
well wishes as well as for close friends
or business occasions. When there is a
birth of a new baby, it is not always a
good idea to send flowers to the
hospital for the new parents because
this just means there is more for them
to bring home when they have enough to
worry about bringing home the newborn.
It is better to have the flowers sent
directly to their house that way your
gift is waiting for them when they get
there.
Sympathy
When sending flowers due to the death of
a loved one and you want to express your
sympathies there are certain delicate
matters to consider. With Muslims and
Jewish religions for example, they
typically do not have flowers at a
funeral, instead flowers are sent to the
families home. Because the death of a
loved one is such an emotional and
distressing event in someone's life it
is appropriate to think about the
families wishes regarding how they wish
flowers to be sent. Sometimes families
often request donations in lieu of
flowers however, even in these cases,
many people often send flowers many
weeks after the funeral as time has gone
by and flowers may be very comforting as
they are still grieving the loss and
