Company Profile

Portable Rock Climbing Walls And
Leadership Team Building
Past The Edge Adventures is the
premier company for "outdoor leadership adventure" and Portable Rock
Climbing Wall's in
Georgia, Tennessee, and all the South East.

PTE Outdoor Adventures is a full service
company that utilizes challenging activities (indoor and outdoor) in
order teach important leadership and
team building principles to a variety of Corporate groups.
Our Teaching Tools
Include
rock
climbing, hiking, camping, kayaking, caving, and our unique portable
challenge courses
(rock walls, bicycle courses, moving bridges, etc. all of which we
can bring right to you!)
We Listen
We listen to each team, business, or organization we
work with in order to better understand their vision, goals, time
restraints,
as well as the leadership/team building principles they wish to
prioritize.
We Teach
PTE does not assume that participants will simply
learn from activities with minimal input from guides. Trained PTE
Instructors teach these
principles with intentionality and repetition using the appropriate
activities as practical application and memorization tools.
We Empower
After thorough training, PTE puts each team in charge
allowing them to practice on their own what they have learned under
the watchful eyes of instructors.

We use
instruction and hands-on experience in top
rope setup, safety technique, belaying,
rappelling, and many other skills in order
to teach important leadership and team
building principles. This experience will
also give team members the opportunity to
learn and practice important problem solving
techniques. All of this will enable
participants to function more effectively at
work or at school.
Our rock climbing leadership program for
corporate and university groups has got it
all and then some. Your team will venture
out into the North Georgia mountains for a
multitude of course designs taught by
experienced, certified climbing instructors
and leadership facilitators. These courses
will focus on the clients' specific goals
using what PTE calls ELC “Experiential
Learning Challenges.” These challenges will
motivate your team to do things not only
"outside of the box" but also "Past The
Edge" giving endless learning experiences
that can be taken back to their office or
campus.
Bottom line. . . the rock climbing program
will motivate your team to think creatively,
share ideas effectively, and create a level
of trust that only rock climbing can
accomplish. This program is extremely
versatile so anyone can participate at their
own level. If your team cannot travel to the
mountains with us, we can even bring the
rock to you!
The rock climbing program is normally a two
day activity, but can be done in one day
realizing that many elements of the overall
class will not be taught. Rock climbing can
be combined with other PTE activities to
form a 3-5 day program.

Planning
meals, deciding what and how much to pack,
using maps and GPS devices, setting up camp,
cooking on small stoves, building a fire,
leaving no trace, and hiking through the
beautiful mountains of North Georgia to make
it to the final destination. These things
and so many principles such as vision, goal
setting, strength placement, competence,
etc. are all taught by PTE instructors and
then learned by each group through trial,
error, challenge, and success.
Hiking can be done as a one day activity,
two day activity, or combined with other PTE
activities to form a 2-5 day program. When
combined with rock climbing the normal
program time is 3 days or more.
Camping is normally done each night
regardless of the activity. Unless combined
with a two day hiking trip, such camping is
usually done in a primitive camping area
with vehicle access.

Kayaking is
a unique and creative way for employees to
spend one day of their leadership/team
building program. The rivers of North
Georgia lend a variety of flat, moving, and
white water experiences to our students.
For those who have never kayaked before or
have limited experience, the course will use
fast moving, inflatable, one or two person
kayaks. The curriculum begins by teaching in
the boats but on the land where we will
focus on the basics. This includes;
equipment identification and use, paddle
strokes, safety, and hazards.
The course then moves on to the river where
you will spend time learning how to maneuver
and master several paddle strokes. Just as
you begin to get used to your boat, the
river begins to move faster and you will get
plenty of opportunities to develop and
practice some river reading skills,
identifying eddielines and understanding
stream flow dynamics. For those up to the
challenge we will also instruct students and
allow them to practice surfing in the many
class II rapids. Our kayaking instructors
help you learn the lines through the rapids
and clue you in to the best routes.
Excellent and personalized kayaking
instruction makes for a quality learning
experience.
For those on any team who have experience
kayaking, particularly with a previous PTE
class, hardshell kayaks will be used and
students will be taught how to maneuver
these very responsive and quick one man
boats down class II-III rapids.
All of this while teaching leadership and
team building principles such as calculated
risk taking and quick decision making which
can best be taught and learned in a fast
flowing environment such as this. We can
also design boat rodeos and scavenger hunts
which help to teach specific team building
principles. Classes cater to all ability
levels.
Kayaking is normally a one day activity and
can be combined with other PTE activities to
form a 2-5 day program. When combined with
rock climbing the normal program time is 3
days or more. |
When being
above ground just is not enough “Past The
Edge” for your team then going underground
probably will be. Caving is a one of a kind
activity; it is very similar to rock
climbing or mountaineering but underground.
On our caving courses you will learn the
technical skills necessary to explore this
amazing and exquisite underground
wilderness. It is a great way to hone your
leadership skills with your group or create
a one of a kind team building experience
that teaches trust and unity in a whole new
way.
Caving is normally a one day activity and
can be combined with other PTE activities to
form a 2-5 day program. When combined with
rock climbing the normal program time is 3
